Stamping On Alcohol Ink Panels

Do you want to add loads of color to your Hedgehog Hollow May 2019 Kit stamps? I’ve got a set of stamped alcohol ink panels to inspire your colorful side!

Grab your favorite alcohol inks and alcohol ink paper, such as Yupo, and let’s get inky!

I had never stamped alcohol ink panels before so I’ll share tips on what I learned through the process. Check out the video for details.

Create Alcohol Ink Panels

I’ll be using the backside of Kirkland Glossy Photo paper today as I’m out of Yupo. The inks moved well, but I was also using a lot of 91% isopropyl alcohol. If you have both, give it a test drive and see what you think.

Ranger Alcohol Inks

Pink Panel – Flamingo, Sunset Orange, Salmon
Blue/Green Panel – Denim, Aqua, Citrus, Willow

An air puffer helped to shift the inks in different directions and I kept adding colors and alcohol with a dropper until I was happy with the result. Let your panels dry completely before stamping.

Stamping Alcohol Ink Panels

Before stamping, I die cut the panels using a deckled edge rectangle die. I chose a few stamps from the 3 sets included in the May kit and stamped away.

Tip: The paper can be slippery so I highly recommend using a stamp positioner for the best impression.

Altenew Crisp Dye Inks

  • Coral Berry, Ruby Red, and Grapevine
  • Olive
  • Dusk

The blue piece was a bit busy for my taste, but I set all 3 pieces aside to dry overnight.

Wet Ink Tip

The next morning the ink was still wet which makes sense because dye ink doesn’t dry on a non-porous craft mat either. Doh!

Shifting gears, I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and heat set it ensuring that I pre-heated the tool and kept it moving to prevent the plastic paper from melting.

Chipboard Sentiments

The chipboard sentiments from the kit are sized just right and they’re a beautiful font so I definitely wanted to incorporate them into the card designs.

I squished a VersaMark ink pad on the sentiments, covered them with white embossing powder, and melted it with a pre-heated too.

Card Assembly

The ink panels were slightly curled after heat embossing, so I backed the panels with sticky back fun foam. This straightened them out perfectly.

The ink panels are matted with 2 colored cardstock pieces from the kit. The green piece is from my stash as the ink was more yellow than the green cardstock from the kit. A green die cut circle was placed behind Fabulous to emphasize “Fab”.

Finally, I adhered the matted panels to dry embossed A2 sized white cardstock and the sentiments were glued down with a Large Nuvo Glue Pen.

And that’s a wrap! I hope you feel inspired to get inky and create something pretty with your Hedgehog Hollow May 2019 Kit!
