Altenew July 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil/Stamping Mat Blog Hop
It’s Altenew release day and once again there are phenomenal new products to add to wish lists! I have 3 cards to share today including no-line watercolor and graphic designs.
If you’ve made your way here from my fellow Altenew Educator Vicki Finger‘s blog, then you’re right on track. To start at the beginning of the hop, click here.
Full Release
Let’s take a closer look at the full release including the new silicone Stamping Mat many of you have been waiting for! Click to find all the details.
Note: Pen Sketched Flowers Die Set will be released on 8/8/19.
Stamping Mat
Though I didn’t use the mat in today’s video, I have enjoyed using it in Altenew Facebook Live sessions. For all of you who had mat envy, you can finally get your own! It wipes clean easily and provides a great base to stamp on.
Altenew’s silicone grid mat is great for stamping, watercolor, ink blending, heat embossing, and everyday crafting! The mat features inches as well as metric measurements on the edges and a half inch grid.
Due to the nature of the silicone surface, some grid lines have slight imperfections and are not completely straight. This will not affect the quality or functionality of the mat.
- Material: Silicone
- Color: White
- Size: 12″x16″
- Surface: One side printed with grid, one side non-slip
- Heat Resistant
Now that our introductions are complete, let’s get crafty!
Pen Sketched Flowers & Geometric Frames Die
I am enchanted by no-line watercolor and Pen Sketched Flowers is perfect for this technique. My vision was to have these dainty florals both frame and overlap a gold Geometric Frames Die cut.
In order to separate the top flowers from the frame, I created a mask by outlining the outside of the Geometric Frame Die. Trim the mask so that the flower images on the bottom can be fully stamped.
Choose a light coordinating ink to stamp your images. In this case, I stamped with Dew Drops the lightest color in the Sweet Dreams color family and watercolored with a mix of Galactic Stream, Aqualicious, Dew Drops, and Charcoal Suit.
I love how the Charcoal Suit and Dew Drops combined to create lovely highlights and shadows on the delicate stems. The sentiment is from Sophisticated Wreath and stamped with Enchanted Gold Pigment Ink.
Charming Doodles
The inspiration for this card was a decorative serving plate with line drawings on blocks of color. I adored the look of it and wanted to translate it to a card.
These Charming Doodles images are so sweet and I can see using this set to create tons of clean and simple designs.
Create a custom mask with stacking circle dies. Each circle in the mask is a different size. I fancied the teal and gold color combination from the first card so I carried it over, replacing gold with Chamomile and adding Cosmic Berry.
Once the circles were ink blended, I stamped Charming Doodles images in each circle making sure to have part of the image fall outside the circle using the Charming Doodle Mask Stencil set when needed.
The sentiment is of course from Sentiment Strips and stamped in Obsidian Pigment Ink. I was positively giddy about how this design turned out!
Graphic Brushstrokes & Mega Greetings 4
Holy smokes! The Graphic Brushstrokes background stamp is the bomb! I am in love with this pattern paired with Mega Greetings 4 sentiment and Mega Hope Die.
Simply stamp the Graphic Brushstrokes background with Enchanted Gold Pigment Ink and take Aqualicious Crisp Dye Ink direct to paper for the Mega Hope Die cut.
Stack the Aqualicious die cut with an offset white die cut, add a sub-sentiment, and pop them up. This sub-sentiment from Mega Greetings 4 made me smile!
That’s a wrap on the projects! Thank you to Altenew for inviting me to guest design this month and to all of you for checking out my post. All the details for supplies, prizes, and the next stop on the hop are below.
