YouTube Tutorial | 10 Ways to Use Washi Tape
I’m back with 10 more ways to use washi tape. Watch here or in HD on YouTube.
Take a closer look at the full Perfect Summer Washi Tape Release in the Altenew shop.
Washi Tape Sentiment Strip & Background Pattern
Let’s start with my favorite card featuring Morning Glory Palette Washi Tape. This tape screamed shower tiles to me. Morning Glory Palette Washi tape is offset to create the shower tile background.
This card is a throwback to the days when I would use up all my mama’s Calgon. Oh man, did I get in trouble, but I enjoyed every minute relaxing in luxury. Sorry, mom, I get it now!
The lightest color of Sweet Dreams Washi Tape Set creates a sentiment strip for my custom greeting. Calgon is die-cut with Simple Alpha Dies and take me away is printed on vellum.
Just look at those gold sparkly shower tiles!!
Washi Tape Collage
The subtle grey leaf clusters of Marshland Washi Tape are ideal for all occasions. The semi-transparent nature of washi tape is perfect for collage techniques.
I’ve torn individual leaf clusters and layered them atop each other on one end of a white card front.
Hanging leaves emphasize the sentiment cut with the Altenew Simply Hang in There Die.
Weaving Strips & Fussy Cutting Washi Tape
The gold foil cascading through aquamarine in the Marbled Dreams Washi Tape is simply wondrous. Use it for a full background panel or cut it into strips and weave it through your other elements.
Round Art Washi Tape is unique, modern, and artsy. I adhered 3 of the circular elements to cardstock and fussy cut them.
Ensure your strips are in order so that the marble pattern is cohesive. Try adhering the Round Art washi tape to vellum so that the strips can be seen through the circles.
Washi Stripes, Die-Cut Letters, & Background Panels
The new multi-colored Sweet Dreams and Tea Party Washi Tape Sets make creating striped backgrounds a breeze!
First, I adhered one stripe of each of the 4 Sweet Dream Washi Tapes to an A2 card front. Next, I die-cut the word YOU with Caps Bold Alphabet Dies.
I set the striped panel aside for later and popped up the die-cut letters on black sticky back fun foam. Next, I adhered the die-cuts and sub-sentiment to an A2 sized card front covered with Painted Dots Washi Tape.
Painted Dots is my favorite tape from the bunch! What’s yours?
Washi Tape Overlay & Border
Painted Dots has a bunch of white space which is excellent for overlay techniques. Today, I laid down stripes of Tea Party Washi Tape Set stripes and overlayed it with Painted Dots.
Try overlaying a stenciled background with washi tape too. This is a great technique if your stencil accidentally shifts. Don’t toss it, just cover it up with wide washi.
These beautiful florals are from Wild Flora. I’ve backed them with sticky back fun foam for a tidy finished look.
Ground Elements with Washi Tape
Last but not least, ground elements with these lovely gold and navy washi tapes.
First, I laid down a strip of Golden Strokes Washi Tape on the card base. Next, I die-cut a piece of Gold Splatter Navy Washi Tape and popped it up on fun foam.
This is the smallest floral from Wild Flora and the sentiments are from Hello & Hugs Stamp & Die Bundle.
Alrighty, that’s a wrap on 10 ways to use washi tape. Thanks for visiting! I hope you feel inspired to try some of these quick and easy techniques. We’d love to see what you’re creating, tag us @altenewllc and @notableink.
