Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Once again, I have something a little different today. I’m featuring a 5×7 card inspired by typography design.

Bold Watercolor & Typography Handmade Card Design

I’ve always had a thing for fonts and have collected them over the years. So typography design always inspires me. I collect pics of ads that really speak to me and store them away for a day when my card mojo needs a reboot.

Let’s talk color! Just look at these color swatches. So unbelievably vibrant!! For today’s card, I used Lime, Turquoise, and Purple Wine

Altenew Tropical Fiesta Watercolor Brush Marker Swatches

Be sure to watch the video for this loose and vibrant watercolor technique.

Start by stamping and clear heat embossing several images onto your favorite watercolor paper. I’m using Saunders Waterford Rough High White paper as it’s a brighter white than most watercolor paper I’ve seen. I’m enjoying the rough texture of this paper.

Time to watercolor, start by adding a thin coat of clean clear water to one petal, then drop in 2-3 different colors with the watercolor brush marker. Let the water do the work.

Tip: If you want a super vibrant color drop in color directly from the brush marker and let the water do the work. If you mess with it you may end up with 1 solid color. Eh, hm see video!

Bold Watercolor & Typography Handmade Card Design

Allow watercolor to dry completely and then die cut or fussy cut the images. I die cut 3 layers of cardstock, 1 black & 2 white, using Altenew Classic Alphabet Dies to spell the word SPRING. I then stacked the letters with glue.

The card front consists of a 5×7 piece of black cardstock and 4.5×7 piece of white cardstock. I added some score lines to the white piece for added texture and detail and popped it up with sticky back fun foam.

All that was left was to arrange the letters, leaves, and flowers and add some dew drops. Even though the letters were stacked, I added more dimension with foam tape.

As always supplies are listed below. Be sure to scroll to the bottom for giveaway details! I hope you enjoyed this card today and feel inspired to combine watercolor with typography design. Be creative and Breathe · Ink · Inspire
