Colored Cardstock Stamping

Welcome back! Today we’ll be creating some Clean & Simple cards featuring Altenew Sweet Rose Bouquet Stamp Set.

These cards are inspired by Altenew Academy For the Love of Color class instructed by Julia Altermann. Julia has a fantastic teaching style & shares coloring techniques that are easy to follow and implement into any card.

I recently color penciled & watercolored almost 40 flowers for my last project, so to switch things up, I opted for layer stamping colored cardstock. First, I cut two A2 size panels from dark and light grey cardstock. A bonus card was made with teal cardstock.

Tip: allow the white pigment ink to dry before layering colors. If the white ink isn’t dry, it will mix with the colored ink and be pulled away from the card with the stamp.

I heat set the white pigment ink with a heat tool before the second layer. I then proceeded to stamp the first solid layer with Altenew Soft Lilac Mini Cube, second layer with Lavender Fields, and the third layer with Midnight Violet.

I accidentally used the darkest shade of purple with the 3rd layer, so stamped the final layer with Pure graphite from Rock Collection Mini Cube set.

The leaves were stamped with Frayed Leaf and Forrest Glades for the light cardstock and Frayed Leaf and Evergreen for the dark grey cardstock. The sentiment was stamped with 3 layers of white.

Tip: heat set the white pigment ink in between layers for the best build-up of color.

The cardstock was then shifted up 1/16 of an inch on the light grey card and 1/8 inch on the teal card to offset the green which adds dimension & interest.

Clear flat sequins were added to all 3 cards. I felt something was missing on the dark grey card, so I added a sub-sentiment in black. Look how the sun reflected off the white sentiment below.

I created a purple strip of cardstock for the light grey card by taking the ink pad directly to the paper, then foam mounted the panels, and call the cards done.
