Cozy Christmas Tags

The Critter Sweaters Stamp Set, from the Simon Says Stamp Fun & Festive release, screamed cozy sweater tags to me. So I’ve got 2 videos and two different styles of tags for you today!

I was super excited when I saw this set since it gave me the opportunity to break out Simon’s Ugly Sweater Stamp & Die set. It was the set I used to make my very first set of cards, so it was sweet a blast from the past.

I started with the critter tag which was more involved since each line of knit was stamped separately. Start by stamping the sweater on a few full sticky Post-It note, and fussy cut out the center to make a mask. Next stamp the critters face, cheeks, and bowtie on the top center of the sweater. Create a mask and cover the face and bowtie.

Then, leaving a small area at the bottom for the cuff, start stamping 5 different knits, with alternating colors. Repeat the knit pattern until you’re just short of the neckline.

Colors: Simon Says Stamp Premium Dye Ink in Lake Shores, Audrey Blue, High Dive, Doll Pink, & Soft Navy.

I added vertical line details to the cuff and neckline with Copic W1 marker and White Gellyroll pen. I die cut and fussy cut the sweater and then die cut the tag pieces out of Simon Says Stamp Peacock Blue, Audrey Blue, and Doll Pink cardstock.

I drew in ears with a Copic W1 and white Gellyroll pen, added some pink to the centers. I then cut the bottom off of 2 Pretty Pink Posh Marshmallow Confetti Mix sequins and adhered the to the ears.

I added some white pen highlights to the cuff, neckline, nose, and eyes added natural hemp cord and called this tag done.

Next up are some Embossed Sweater Tags. Now these guys are super simple, no masking and no critter. Start by lining up all your knit stamps in a row in your MISTI or on a stamp block. I highly recommend a stamp positioner as you may need to stamp multiple times.

Ink up the stamps with VersaMark ink and emboss with gold embossing powder. Die cut and fussy cut the sweater, like we did with the first tag, and stamp the sweater with VersaMark ink. Back with the sweater with foam tape.

Assemble the front and back of the tag, topper, and the hole reinforcer. Cut a small hang tag with the Stitched Dress Up dies and emboss sentiment with gold embossing powder.

Grab some red and white twine, thread 1 end through the hole and tie it like a present with the bow in front just under the tag topper. Adhere the sweater over the twine making sure it’s centered. Attach your sentiment tag with a loop of twine and you’re done!
