Fresh Summer Cards | Color Connection

I’m back with another Altenew Color Connection episode creating fresh summer cards. Featuring the color scheme from the May 2020 Inspiration Challenge, Inked Flora Stamp Set, and Gradient Sunset Stamp Set.

Altenew Color Connection with Amber is a video series on the Altenew YouTube channel. On the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month, I post video tutorials creating projects with the current month’s Inspiration Challenge color scheme. You know I love to play with color, so this is a great fit for me!

Inked Flora Stamp Set

If you visited my May 2020 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release blog post, then you know Altenew Inked Flora is one of my faves.

Obsidian Pigment Ink is my goto black ink and out of habit, I used it here without thinking of coloring. But here’s the thing, it’s not Copic/Alcohol marker safe. So I resorted to coloring this image with a dot technique to avoid coloring over the stamped lines.

Tip: Vary the size of dots. Create small dots with the bullet nib and large dots with the brush nib.

As you can see, I carried the color scheme over to the background with Altenew Turquoise cardstock and inlaid strips of orange and yellow cardstock. The orange cardstock is cut to 3/16-inch and the yellow to 1/8-inch.

Lastly, the Sentiments Strips 2 Stamp Set and Satin Gold Sequins finish off the card.

Gradient Stripes Stamp Set

Compared to the first card, this one is clean and simple with an endless summer vibe. It reminds me of a summer vacation t-shirt design.

In order to easily align the stamps trace the coordinating circle die on the card with a pencil. Line up your stamps inside the circle. More details are in the video.

The palm tree integrates seamlessly by stamping the trunk through the M. Finish the card with as many birds as you desire.
