Ink Layering, Be Bold
I’m here today with 2 cards for Altenew’s December 2018 Stamp & Die release. Check out all the fabulous products from the release here. Products for this project listed below.
I love bright bold colors, and I was dying to try their new purple, brown, & gray inks with the Nature Snippets Stamp Set. I had suggested new purples and cool browns on a survey and was thrilled when these new inks came out!!
So sorry there isn’t a video with this set. I had only taped the stamping of the panel & nothing else & I didn’t want to leave you hanging in the video!
This Nature Snippets Stamp Set is unique and versatile. I love how the flowers & bird are left white with negative space and the rest of the images layer ink on top of each other.
Now it would make the most sense to use a light color for the circular base layers, but I’m all about the bold & bright, so I gave Altenew Ultraviolet & Milk Chocolate Crisp Dye Inks a whirl and was thrilled with how the inks layered up!
I decided these stamps called for an off the edge pattern paper look & once the panel was complete felt it was too pretty for just 1 card. So I cut it in half on a diagonal and added a 1/8 strip of Altenew Pale Gray cardstock.
I adhered the 2 panels to A2 sized Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lb panels and then decided Mega Greetings 3 Stamp Set & Mega Love Die were must-haves for the sentiments.
I grabbed some coordinating cardstock and die cut a few love dies, only to find I couldn’t commit to 1 color, I wanted them all! So I offset them so we could enjoy all the colors and glued them down with Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive.
I stamped a sub-sentiment on each card in Ultraviolet Crisp Dye Ink and called it done. This might be one of my favorite sets of cards and definitely one of my favorite color palettes to date!
I hope this project inspires you to be bold with your color layering and try out combinations you wouldn’t necessarily think would work! Get creative and remember to Breathe · Ink · Inspire.
