Repurpose Embossed Leftovers

Don’t toss those beautifully embossed scraps, repurpose them for a card or another tag! I had a lot of embossed colored cardstock leftover from the tag sets I created for Simon Says Stamp Fun & Festive release, so I created a bonus card. Links to supplies below

I had 6 embossed card panels that had been used to die cut out one sweater. I took each of the left over panels and die cut them with various sized My Favorite Things Stitched Star Stax dies.

Once I cut out as many stars or partial stars as possible, I cut off the triangle arms and arranged them into little Christmas trees. I kept the smallest starts intact to use as tree toppers.

Next up I needed to create a winter wonderland background. I die cut a stitched A2 sized card panel from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cover 80lb cardstock. I then created a mask by cutting a piece of Post-It tape with a stitched border die.

I blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide lightly over the surface making sure I left soft white areas for clouds.

I then cut a scrap of Bazzill 40lb vellum with the same A2 sized stitched die and then divided it with the stitched border die to create snowy hills.

Tip: Cutting the vellum first with the A2 stitched die will ensure the sides of your snowy hills are stitched to match the inked card panel.

I gold heat embossed the Merry Christmas sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Critter Sweaters Stamp Set onto the front hill, then used tiny dots of Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive to adhere the hills to each other at the edges and to the the card front.

Next it was time to add the stacked Christmas trees to my wintery scene. I was careful to put the larger trees in the front and the small trees in back to create perspective. Some trees are popped up with foam adhesive while others are adhered directly to the card and some trees are tucked behind the vellum.

As a finishing touch I topped some of the trees with embossed stars and Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold Confetti Mix.
