3 Creative Ways To Use 1 Colorway
Hey guys, I’m back with 3 creative ways to use 1 colorway featuring colors from the Altenew April 2020 Inspiration Challenge.
Fellow Design Team member and Altenew Educator, Nicole Watt, is hosting the Inspiration Challenge this month. Her gorgeous Hawaiian vacation photo includes shades of peach, pink, and gray.
When you’re developing your design(s), consider all the mediums available to you. I adore Altenew’s color-coordinated mediums, from watercolor to markers, washi tape, and more. Today, I chose to work with Crisp Dye Inks, Washi Tape, and cardstock.

Marshland Washi Tape & Tea Party Washi Tape Set
Washi tape may not immediately come to mind when you’re choosing your medium, but the new Washi Tape sets are perfect for color challenges.
You can whip up this card up in minutes with Marshland Washi Tape & Tea Party Washi Tape Set.
Tear off a piece of Marshland Washi Tape isolating a few leaf clusters. Press it to a piece a 4.25 x 5.5-inch white cardstock. Next, tear two strips of Tea Party Washi Tape. I chose the two lightest colors and arranged them so they’d overlap each other.
Die-cut coral and white cardstock with Altenew Handwritten Hello Die Set and stamp a sub-sentiment in grey ink. Add Altenew Satin White Sequins (releasing very soon) and bam it’s done.
Angelique Motifs & Crisp Dye Inks
Dye ink pads are typically the first medium that comes to mind when adding color to cards. This color palette layers beautiful with Angelique Motifs Stamp Set.
This unique layering set reminds me of a fabulous fabric pattern. Learn to set up the images for efficient pattern stamping in the video.

The sentiment, from Rennie Roses Stamp Set, is stamped on vellum with Piano Black Staz-on Pigment Ink.
For this card design, I cased a fabric-style card I made for the Angelique Motifs release. Below is the original card which I dry embossed to add a touch of fabric-like texture. Let me know in the comments which colorway you prefer.

Layered Floral Elements Die-Cuts
Colored cardstock and 3D layering dies are a striking and effective way to add color to your cards. Altenew Layered Floral Elements Dies have large solid spaces to show off your colored cardstock palette.
Gray is represented by Altenew Moonrock & Pale Gray cardstock. We don’t have Tea Party Gradient Cardstock yet, so Red Cosmos would be a great option if you have it. I’m dying to get my hands on some when it’s back in stock.
For now, I’ve used two shades of coral cardstock from CutCardStock, Basis Coral and DCS Wild Salmon. Doodled Dots Cover Die and Bold Greetings Die Set finish off the card.
