Altenew April 2018 Blog Hop

Thanks so much for joining me today on the hop! If you’ve reached me from the lovely Reiko Tsuchida’s blog, then you’re right on track! It’s been an honor to participate and I’m excited to share Altenew’s new products and these cards with you.

Today’s projects were done in pairs. I figure, if I have the products out, I might as well create more than one card at a time.

Altenew April 2018 Blog Hop

Strength Blooms

This pair features Strength Blooms Stamp & Die set which is another fantastic flower layering set by Altenew. This set works perfectly with Altenew Crisp Dye Ink Mini Cube sets as they each have 4 colors in shades from light to dark.

The card on the left features an acetate front with the sentiment stamped on the inside. Typically, I use a stamp positioner for layered stamps, however, I hand stamped this card. While the quality of stamping is the same, these stamps are gorgeous, I found it took more time and patience to line them up while looking through the stamp block.

Tip: If you accidentally smudge black pigment ink on the middle of your card, temporarily adhere it to another piece of white cardstock & fussy cut the middle out. Add a piece of acetate between the 2 layers and voila! (Ask me how I know)

For the birthday card, I used Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Stamp Platform and stamped 2 flowers at a time. This started as a one layer card, and then, I added die cut flowers to the both sides for depth & dimension. These sentiments are from the Gradient Stripes stamp set which are also included in this release.

Watercolor Dots

Shifting gears from organic to geometric patterns, I used the same Altenew Mini Cube ink sets as in the cards above. Warm Sunshine from the Summer Afternoon set & Ocean Waves from the Cool Summer Night set were used to ink blend an embossed resist of Watercolor Dots. Those 2 colors create a beautiful green where they meet in the middle.

Once the background was ink blended, I die cut the panel to A2 size, and cut it in half from corner to corner. I taped together 3 letters of the Bold Alphabet Die Set, lined it up on the diagonal, and die cut “hey”. I cut the same letters from black cardstock and fun foam stacked them and inlaid them into the ink blended panels.

The sub sentiments are from Altenew Fresh Freesia Stamp Set, an oldie but goodie. I just love that sophisticated script touch.

Gradient Stripes

Bold black stripes are a sure fire way to add drama to any card. The Gradient Stripes Stamp Set is a must-have all-purpose background stamp with the added bonus of lots of sentiments!

I love, love, love the Altenew Bold Alphabet Die Set and it practically has a permanent home on my desk. This simple card only needs a single background stamp, two ink colors, and some inlaid die cutting.

Altenew Gradient Stripes

I used the Stamp Platform to get the stripes in exactly the same place on each card front using VersaFine Onyx Black Pigment Ink and Altenew Coral Berry Crisp Dye Ink.

I then stacked the two card fronts and die cut them simultaneously to ensure they were cut in the same place. The letters were backed with coordinating colored fun foam which adds a nice touch when viewing the card from the side. The sub sentiment is from Altenew Strength Blooms.

Party Time!

This stamp set is excellent for any celebration whether your making cards, invitations, or save the date notes. Each of the bold sentiments have a shadow stamp which are suprisingly easy to line up with a standard block or stamp positioner.

Altenew Party Time!

This final card uses 3 different stamp sets from this release: Party Time!, Strength Blooms, and Watercolor Dots.

Altenew Watercolor Dots, Strength Blooms, & Party Time!

Each line of the Watercolor Dot background was inked up with 3 alternating colors of Altenew Shades of Purple Mini Cubes. After inking it up, I spritzed the stamp with a Mini Mister filled with a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls. This added a watercolor effect and the iridescence of the Perfect Pearls in is amazing in real life!
