Altenew August 2018 Release Hop
Hello! I’m thrilled to be participating in this fantastic release from Altenew. This release contains some of my favorite Altenew stamp sets to date! If you’ve reached me from Zinia Redo’s blog, then you’re right on track.
This 6 card set is inspired by Altenew’s new Geo Frames Stamp set. It’s sure to become a staple in any crafter’s stash. Hand drawn borders & a bright rainbow palette were used throughout the set. There are 6 videos below!

Inked Flora, Geo Frames, & Mega Greetings 2
I started by cutting a diamond shaped mask with the Geo Frames Stamp & Die Bundle and adhered it to a piece of Fabriano Artistico Extra White Hot Press watercolor paper. I then stamped the large Inked Flora flower & leaf, turned the cardstock, and mirrored the stamping on the other side.
Tip: When stamping the Geo Frames be sure to clean any excess ink from the center of the stamp. I had an air bubble under the stamp & got a large smudge in the center of my card. I was able to remove the ink smudge with a Tombow Mono Sand Eraser. Whew!
Flat gold sequins, spatter with Altenew Jet Black Ink Spray, & a hand-drawn thin black border was added to finish off the card. These hand drawn borders are inspired by Kelly Latevola, as I recently took her Altenew Academy One Layer Wonders class.
Halftone Squares & Mega Greetings 2
The Halftone Squares set was calling for a rectangle rainbow. I started by drawing guidelines on an A2 sized card front then stamped the long rectangle stamp in rainbow order.
The birthday sentiment felt a bit plain, so I outlined it with a black border then decided to outline the rainbow as well. I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ebony Black to complete the card.
Floral Art & Block Print
These two sets are amazing!! I absolutely love the sketchy feel to the Floral Art stamps and the versatility of the Block Print set. I started by stamping one of the block prints at the top center of an A2 sized card front.
The die cuts were popped up with foam tape and squares, a hand-drawn border, and a beautiful scripty sentiment from Floral Art was added.
Block Print & Mega Number Die
Say hello to the Mega Number Dies!! These dies are perfectly sized for card fronts and Altenew’s Party Banner and Pocket Banner dies.
I inked up the Block Print stamp a rainbow of Altenew Crisp Dye Mini Ink Cubes and stamped in the center of an A2 sized card front and clear heat embossed. I then used Staedtler Triplus Fineliner Pens to add a black, green, and blue border.
I cut 5 number 1’s with the Mega Number Die. You are my inspiration, from Altenew’s Halftone Circle stamp set, was stamped and white embossed. The number 1’s were stacked, glued together, and added to the card front.
Ebony Black Nuvo Crystal drops were added to bring in more black and Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen was used to add shine to the number 1. The card panel was cut down by 1/4 inch and backed with blue cardstock for added interest.
Inked Flora & Geo Frames
I couldn’t get enough of the Geo Frames & Inked Flora so they begged to be featured on a 2nd card. This time the smaller flower from Inked Flora was stamped with VersaMark ink and pearl heat embossed on watercolor paper.

I watercolored the flower with Tide Blue Altenew Crisp Dye Ink & Perfect Pearls in the color Pearl. The diamond frame was stamped with VersaMark ink on blue cardstock and pearl heat embossed.
The rectangle frame was stamped directly on the A2 sized card front. And smile from the Geo Frames stamp set was stamped on vellum and fussy cut. All pieces were popped up with foam tape and added to the card front.
Black spatter was added with Altenew Jet Black Ink Spray and flat clear sequins were added to finish off the card.
Inked Flora Background
Whew, we’re coming to a close here with the last card which uses one of the leaves from the Inked Flora Stamp Set to create a background pattern.
I enhanced the sketchiness of the illustration by using a Sakura Pigma Micron 01 pen to add black ink to the leaves. This helps to make the black frame and sentiment pop.
Have a lovely day, from the Inked Flora stamp set, was stamped with VersaMark ink and white heat embossed on black paper and popped up on the card front.
A hand drawn border was added behind the leaves to add interest and structure. If you give this design a go, consider adding shadows to the leaves with a grey Copic marker.

Mmm, such an amazing set of cards. I love all the different techniques and colors and styles you used. I think my favorite for this release is the halftone squares (but possibly also the block prints or the frames). I’m really feeling the geometry this time around. And I would love to see how you did multicolor stamping on one stamp. I always seem to make either a giant mess or very artificial lines, but I love how your block print turned out! Thanks for sharing all of these with us!
