Distress Oxide Stamping – Stamptember 2018

Woohoo! STAMPtember 2018 is off and running! Be sure to check out Simon Says Stamp’s blog here so that you don’t miss out on any sweet STAMPtember promotions like the one below!

STAMPTEMBER 2018

So far, I’ve created 6 cards with the STAMPtember Spiritual Sentiments stamp set that I received. It’s possible there will be more to come. 😉 Today’s card features the largest sentiment in the set, Love Never Fails and it called for a colorful backdrop.

Rainbow Stamping with Distress Oxide and Simon Says Stamp

So let’s get started with some ever-popular colorful Distress Oxide rainbow stamping! I started by penciling in guidelines on an A2 size card panel. I drew a cross then bisected those four sections for a total of 8 guidelines.

Next I grabbed the heart stamp from Simon Says Stamp Big Perfect Shapes stamp set. I centered the heart on the guideline, lined the grid on my stamp block up with the guideline, and picked up the stamp. Each time I stamped, I lined up the tip of the heart with the center of the guidelines and the stamp block grid with the guideline.

Ranger Distress Oxide Inks were used in the following colors: Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Mermaid Lagoon, Seedless Preserves, and Picked Raspberry.

Tip: heat set the ink or allow to completely air dry prior to erasing guidelines. See video.

Once the rainbow was complete I stamped Love Never Fails, from Simon Says Stamp Spiritual Sentiments Stamp Set, in VersaFine Onyx Black and clear heat embossed it. I trimmed the card panel down 1/8 inch on either side and popped it up on Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow paper.

I just love how well the Distress Oxides coordinate with the Lawn Fawn paper and how the rainbow background sets off the large scripty sentiment!

This is such a sweet “heart” card! Love the new soft and deep colors of the Distress Oxides! How did we live without them!! Love that you cleverly used the heart stamp and then heat embossed the sentiment (which I love) to make it pop and add dimension. I like making cards that are easy to send and ready with uplifting sentiments like this!! Splendid way to use this fab new SSS release!

  2. Oh my goodness, aren’t you smart! What a great way to use a heart die & have all those lovely blending colours.

Has a wonderful artsy look to it. You have quite the patience to line up the colors so nicely.

    1. Thanks so much Melissa! The point on the end of the heart sure made it a lot easier to line up.
