Altenew Build-A-Flower: Indian Lotus Hop + Video
Altenew Build-A-Flower stamp sets aren’t just for layer stamping. Today, I’m sharing how to combine stamps with gel press and 3 different mediums: dye ink, pigment ink, and acrylic paint.
Many thanks to Carol Hintermeier for relaying you over to my blog. To start at the beginning of the hop, visit the Altenew Card Blog.
How-To Video
Experimenting with different ways to use supplies is one of my favorite crafty past times. Layering sets often come with an outline stamp which is easy to color with different media. I’ve even stamped abstract background panels with detail layers stamps.
The same can be said of ink pads. They can be used for watercolor, direct ink to paper techniques, ink blending, and more. Today, I’m pairing stamps with the gel press and comparing three different media: dye inks, pigment inks, and acrylic paint.
All the details for gel press with 3 different media + stamps are in this cardmaking video tutorial. Watch here or in HD on YouTube. While you’re there I’d love it if you subscribe and share with friends.

I am INLOVE with these cards, you make me want to run to my desk to try out this technique! I don’t use my gell press enough, but this video totally inspired me to try it out today. I especially like the comparison of the three techniques. I have been unimpressed with my attempts using dye ink, but I have a good selection of pigment pads and I will play around with them Thank you!
Beautiful cards!
I have not tried gel press yet, but you make it look amazing.
Wow! Thanks for the video. It really shows the differences with the different inks and was very informative. Love the lotus flower.
Wonderful video comparing the different ink usage with the gel press. I keep looking at buying one and yesterday decided to go for it ( I had watched a recent gel press video of yours). Of course the size I wanted was out of stock. The gold adds so much to each of the designs!
I just pulled out my gel press yesterday! Just in time for your fabulous video tutorial. The funky card with the torn edges was my favorite. But really any of the gold was my favorite. Thanks for a great gel press inspirational video.
