Altenew Suddenly Spring Full Release

Here’s a closer look at the Stand-Alone Dies included in the Altenew Suddenly Spring release.

Mini Slimline Cards

I don’t use pattern paper often, but when I do I try to eliminate waste and leftovers. So, I thought outside of the box with the Cheerful Meadow 6×6 Paper Pack.

Altenew Circular Elements Die Set
Circular Elements Die Set & Slim Sentiments Die Set

Instead of cutting the 6×6 pattern paper to A2 size, 4.25 x 5.5-inches, I merely cut it in half. This creates two 3 x 6-inch pieces of pattern paper which is perfect for mini slimline cards! Make two of the same card design or switch up your elements.

Mini Slimline Envelopes

Are you wondering what envelope to use for a Mini Slimline card? These mini slimline cards measure 3 x 6-inches and fit perfectly in a #7 coin envelope which measures 3.5 x 6.5-inches.

Or you can make your own envelope with an envelope punch board. The leaf cluster above is cut with the Decorative Swirls Die Set from Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock.

Use Your Leftovers

For this card, I used the leftover pattern paper piece from the first card. I simply trimmed it down with a circle die to remove the Circular Elements die-cut edges and matted it with white and black cardstock.

Altenew Reflections Die
Reflections Die & Fancy Greetings Stamp Set

Isn’t the reflections die fabulous? Don’t forget to stretch the use of your dies by using the die-cuts as stencils and masks too. Or you can die cut a piece of fun foam and use it as a stamp. So many options.

Alcohol Ink On Deli Paper

Sometimes you just have to experiment and in this video, I’m playing with alcohol inks on deli paper. I’ve totally gotten into gel press printing and bought some deli paper for that. But, I wondered what else can I do with it, so here we are.

  56. Caroline R. says:

Wonderful cards, dear Amber! Thank you so much for sharing!
I have used alcohol inks on so many substrates, I don’t believe there is any left to experiment with. I’ve used it on white tissue paper in a very similar fashion as you used the deli paper — only I limited myself to one soft color and a metallic, left white space and used it for gift wrapping. LOVED the result. Deli paper is another one I have experimented with and also watercolor paper. For the latter I mix the inks into drops of rubbing alcohol at a ratio of 1:3 and used on different areas of my watercolor sheet so I could still also use watercolors and other media. It is fascinating how fast the paper absorbs the alcohol ink.
    Happy coloring!
    Caroline

  57. Joni J. Seith says:

  63. Patricia Wilson says:

Oh my! I loved the technique with the deli paper. It reminds me a little of tie dye. The flowers stamped and cut out with this were amazing, so delicate. I’m trying that one. Thanks so much for your interesting take on alcohol inks.

  64. barbara lassiter says:

I’m really loving the mini slimline card design. I found a box of 65 perfectly sized white envelopes in my stash for use with them and I haven’t looked back. Lol! Your cards are beautiful and cheery and I think this size is perfect for using up leftover pieces because you don’t need as much. I liked the tips from the video on Alcohol Ink and Deli paper because I originally bought Deli paper to use with alcohol ink. Thanks!

  65. Always love new ideas for using leftovers. Slim line cards are a super idea for that. Beautiful new designs.
