Colorado Craft Company Kris Lauren Release

Colorado Craft Company and Kris Lauren are back with a new release featuring those delightful mice and my favorite, florals.

Daffodil Mice & Flower Pot Stamps

Despite having just posted a video about avoiding stamp masking, I couldn’t resist a touch of masking for this little mouse. However, that’s where the masking ended. Instead of masking the flower pot, I sliced an opening at the rim with a craft knife. The stems slid in neatly.

The background consists of two pieces of torn deli paper I used to clean my brayer. Don’t throw away your brayer off papers, use the for backgrounds and collage papers. Of course, you could also use them as bases for gel printing too.

I don’t pull out my Copics often, but I feel like I have more control with them for little critters. I adore this moss-covered terra cotta pot and coloring it was a treat.

Flower Pot | E09, R14, E23, W5, YG95, YG17
Daffodils | Y18, Y13, E50, Y32, R14
Mouse | W5, W3, W1, W00, E11, 100

Berry Much Stamps

Switching gears to watercolor I thought it would be fun to leverage granulating watercolors to create the mottled appearance of blueberries.

Rough watercolor paper enhances the granulating effect. Here I used Saunders Waterford High White Rough paper. Paint settles and floats in the nooks and crannies of rough paper.

It can be challenging to stamp on rough paper, so I highly recommend using a MISTI. Use a light-colored ink which is more forgiving. I did not use a MISTI for the image as I watercolored it on the block of paper, therefore double stamping is noted. However, I did use a MISTI for the sentiment and it’s clean and crisp.

Daniel Smith Watercolor

Berry Skin – Cerulean Blue, Rose of Ultramarine (both granulate)
Berry Tops – Raw Umber Violet, Black Posca Pen
Leaves – Sap Green, Perylene Green
Stems – Raw Umber Violet

There are lots of other wonderful stamps in this release, including a teapot house for the mice. Be sure to check out the full release.
