Altenew Educator Hop | Favorite Old & New Stamps

Who doesn’t love a throwback? Today, I cased the first card I made for the Altenew Educator program. I definitely had a facepalm moment in the video so do check it out.

All the details to create this loose watercolor card are in this 5-minute watercolor cardmaking video. Watch it here or in HD on YouTube. While you’re there I’d love it if you like, subscribe, and share it with friends.

1st Altenew Educator Card

Below is the 1st card I made for the Altenew Educator Program. I submitted this card on February 12, 2018. It was fun to take a trip down memory lane and I was surprised to see I made a shape card!

My style has changed over the years. But, even in my earliest days of card making I was using lots of high contrast black. Here I used traditional layer stamping. In today’s example, I opted for loose watercolor with the same color palette.

Check out the blog post here.

Case Your Own Card

Have you ever cased your own card? Recreating your own cards is a great way to get those creative juices flowing when you’re short on time, inspiration, or mojo. Keep it interesting by changing a few elements.

Instead of layer stamping, I opted for loose watercolor. Now you know I love watercolor stamping, but in this case it’s far more efficient to watercolor the outline images and omit the detail layers.

This time I used a sentiment from the Altenew Beauty Within Stamp Set and added purple splatter instead of pearls. Seriously, that might have been the one and only time I used pearls on my card.

And though I started making this a circle shaped card, I decided to mount it on a top folding A2 card base. You’ll have to let me know which you prefer.
