Altenew February 2020 Blog Hop + Giveaway

Altenew February 2020 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release

Before we get started, I want to thank you for all the lovely comments on my 3 in 1 Stencil on Stamp Technique using last’s month’s release. I’m thrilled you liked it and it was exciting to hear it was something new!!

I have two videos with loads of watercolor techniques to share, but first, let’s take a closer look at the full release. Affiliate message below.

2 Watercolor YouTube Tutorials

Now that the Artists’ Watercolor 24 Pan Set has been released I can share my video featuring their debut. There are lots of watercolor cards that I hope you enjoy! Click here to see the post associated with this video.

And, of course, we have more watercolor techniques for this release! Hopefully, you’ll walk away with tons of techniques to try.

I’m doing quite a few hops in February so I’m going to keep my blog write-ups short and sweet. Especially since the details are in the videos.

Watercolor Roses Stamp Set

Do you recognize these flowers? The Watercolor Roses Stamp Set is the same style as the popular Rose Bouquet Stencil. These coordinate well together to create different looks and textures.

Altenew Watercolor Roses Stamp & Die Bundle

To create a faux watercolor effect with the stamps, I inked up the stamp with Altenew Crisp Dye Inks and lightly spritzed the stamps with water before stamping.

Crisp Dye Inks | Pink Pearl, Coral Berry, Sunkissed Orange Cream

Faux Watercolor Technique

I stamped on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. Very little water was used, but you could also use hot press watercolor paper.

That believe sentiment is amazing!!! Love the brush script.

Grunge Watercolor Technique

The Cheshire Cat quote sentiment is so awesome, I had to use it. I did an emboss resist + watercolor technique with Translucent Pearl Embossing Powder.

Artist’s Watercolor | Tropical Forest & Cool Summer Night

Exotic Garden Stamp Set

This bold watercolor background started as a soft blue, but I couldn’t help myself and had to go bold! If you’re into a soft look, I left that in the video.

Loose watercolor technique

Exotic Garden Stamp Set is large enough to carry a card as the focal point or create a tone on tone background. I embossed it with Antique Gold Embossing Powder and watercolored with the new Artists’ set.

Artist’s Watercolor | Tea Party, Cool Summer Night, & Tropical Forrest

The sentiment is the Hello and Hugs Die Set from last month’s release.

New Beginnings Stamp & Die Bundle

This time I was able to control myself and stick with soft pastels. But I have to say I was so uncomfortable with the lack of high contrast!

watercolor stripes

First, I used coordinating dies to cut masks and adhered them to watercolor paper to create a background pattern. Then I painted soft watercolor stripes.

The flowers are embossed with Antique Silver embossing powder. Gah, I wish I stamped them in black for more contrast!

Warm Hugs Stamp Set

This stamp set has a unique and modern feel to it. Instead of using it as it was intended in the layering guide, I used the large solid stamp to create a background pattern.

It has a bit of a quilted panel feel to it. The sentiment and a flower are stamped on vellum.

That’s a wrap! Today’s videos are longer than usual because each has several different cards and watercolor techniques. Feel free to pin this post if you need to come back later. Or better yet subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven’t already!

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration. Let me know your thoughts down below.

    1. Hi Penny, that’s lovely to hear and you made me smile too. I like to keep it real over on my channel and that means leaving in mistakes and projects that take a left turn. Those are usually the ones I end up liking best and I learn so much by not giving up on a card. Hugs!!
