Color Pencils on Kraft
Ellen Hutson Mondo Amaryllis includes a large stamp with wide-open petals perfect for your favorite coloring medium. Traditionally, the amaryllis is used for Christmas cards, but I thought it’d be great for Valentine’s Day too!
First, I started by cutting a piece of Natural Twine Kraft Discount Cardstock to 4.25 x 5.5-inches. This cardstock is similar in color to a brown paper bag with a smooth fiber finish
I stamped Mondo Amaryllis in Staz-On Snowflake Pigment Ink. Now, typically I use Staz-On for non-porous cardstock, like vellum, metallic, and Yupo. But, regular pigment inks take a long time to dry, so I decided to try this Staz-On and I loved the quick-drying result.
Next, I started pencil coloring with Faber-Castel Polychromos pencils in:
- Cadmium Red
- White
- Warm Gray V
- Earth Green Yellowish
- Raw Umber
- Walnut Brown
For more details on coloring be sure to watch the video. Originally I stamped the sentiment directly on the card panel, but my cardstock shifted. Therefore, I white heat embossed it on a coordinating strip of craft cardstock and adhered it directly to the card.
Finally, I used the coordinating die to cut a mask from copy paper, covered the flower and splattered white ink onto the background. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Marshmallow Confetti and called it done.
I hope you enjoyed this clean and simple card which can be used for Valentine’s Day or sent to your loved ones any day of the year.
