Card Design
You know when you get new craft supplies and want to use everything asap? That’s how this design came about, I wanted to use all the things on one card.
All the things = Ellen Hutson Mondo Daisy Stamp & Die sets, WOW! Embossing Earthtone Honey, Earthtone Pepper, and Earthtone Olive, and studio Katia Underwater Sun Rays Stencil.
I thought a great base for the daisy would be Stardream Metallic Gold, my favorite gold cardstock. It’s 105lb and the perfect shade of shimmery gold.
The 3 colors of embossing powder were perfect to color a daisy, but I considered 2 things, the best way to cleanly emboss with 3 colors and whether the Earthtone Honey would show up on the gold cardstock.
WOW! Embossing Freestyle Tool
Then, I remembered I had the WOW! Embossing Ink Pad Refill, Conditioner & Freestyle Tool. This tool is perfect for inking up specific areas on a stamp to emboss in multiple colors. Tips in the video.
Bonus: the stamped lines were thicker and juicer than inking up the stamp with a pad. This helped the tone on tone embossing stand out.
Finishing Touches
I ink blended 3 different background panels with Studio Katia Sun Rays Stencil and Altenew Espresso, Galactic Stream, Moss, and Chamomile Crisp Dye Inks. This resulted in a retro vibe which I love!
Next, I die cut the embossed daisy and both sentiments with the Ellen Hutson Mondo Daisy Die Set. Finally, I popped up the daisy, adhered to the sentiments, and added some Ebony Nuvo Crystal Drops to finish off the card.
