Altenew June 2020 Stamps/Stencils/Dies Release Hop
Ooo, la la! Altenew just released a new Ink Blending Tool and I love it! I’m sharing creative masking techniques featuring products from this fabulous Blooming with Love release.

Blooming with Love Full Release

Bird of Paradise
First, I want to say if you desire a particular floral stamp set, consider emailing Altenew at support@altenew.com with your suggestion. I suggested Bird of Paradise a while back and I’m so thrilled to see it released!
As you can see, I used Caps Bold Alpha Dies to mask the word YOU prior to ink blending with Caribbean Sky, Persian Blue, and Sapphire Crisp Dye Inks from the Glacier Caves Crisp Dye Ink family.
The new Altenew Ink Blending Tool worked like a dream. The bristles are dense, soft, and each hair touches the surface of the card for full-coverage. It’s been a long time since I’ve ink blended and I love the result of the ombre ink blending over the YOU.
After ink blending was complete I layer stamped Bird of Paradise with a variety of Altenew Crisp Dye Inks.
CRISP DYE INKS FOR STEMS
Sweet Leaf, Just Green, Hunter Green, & Magenta
CRISP DYE INKS FOR BLOOMS
Sunkissed, Orange Cream, Firebrick
Persian Blue, Hydrangea
Partially inking the top of the first layer of the stems with Magenta Crisp Dye Ink adds that extra something to the Bird of Paradise.
A bit of creative masking was needed on the small “you are my” stamp. I simply covered “you” with purple tape, inked up the stamp, and removed the tape prior to stamping. Voila!
This is how I mask sentiments. I cannot bring myself to cut them. I did it once and I swear my stamp cried out. Poor little stamp.
Bergenia Builder with Artist Markers
Bergenia Builder Stamp Set is perfect for all you colorists out there. But don’t worry, if you’re not a colorist I have another card design for you below!
Before coloring, I wanted to create a background. I masked off a sketchy rectangle with torn Post-It tape. Then ink blended Sunray Crisp Dye Ink through the Halftone Stencil. I knew the Artist Markers would completely mask the light yellow halftone dots which meant I could stamp right over the background.
I colored Bergenia Builder Stamp with Tropical Forest and Summer Afternoon Artist Markers and finished off the card with Satin Gold Sequins.
Apothecary Labels & Say It With Love
You’re going to want to put Apothecary Labels on all the things. There is a coordinating die set as well! The shape and size of these stamps are ideal for all your paper craft and organization needs.
So after all that coloring and layer stamping, I needed some quick and easy cards! If you follow me then you may recognize this alcohol ink background.
I created it in the video below featuring 3 Altenew Bursting Dahlia Stencil cards. If you missed it, watch it now to learn new stencil techniques!
If you struggle with how to use all those unique alcohol ink panels you make, Apothecary Labels Stamp Set will pull it together for you. Here I stamped it with Warm Sunshine Crisp Dye Ink.
Say It With Love sentiments are ideal as focal points, like you see below, and for the inside of all your cards.
As I said, here is a Bergenia Builder design for anyone who isn’t keen on coloring or needs a quick and easy card.
This little lovely is as simple as stamping Bergenia Builder on two card panels, one blue, and one white. Then trim the white panel with a rectangle die. Apothecary Labels is stamped directly on top of the florals, both in Obsidian Pigment Ink. Although it looks like it was masked, no masking is needed. Yay!
Signature Words Die Set and Ebony Nuvo Drops finish off the card.
Creative Challenge
