All the details to create these easy cardstock color block cards are in the video, so I’ll keep the descriptions below short and sweet. Watch here or in HD on YouTube.
Cardstock Color Blocking
When you don’t have time to color, color blocking with cardstock is a great technique to jumpstart your cards. I chose Pop-Tone Jelly Bean Green, Discount CardStock Indigo, and Royal Sundance Fiber Sunflower cardstock for my palette today.
Next, I trimmed down approximately 2-inch strips of each color and glued it to a 4.25 x 5.5 piece of Neenah. However, you could use copy paper as this is only used to keep the pieces together. Play around with the width and number of strips for different looks.
Next, I trimmed off the excess cardstock and debossed the panel with Altenew Dotted Swirls Debossing Die. This adds a bit of visual interest and texture.
Next, I die cut a cluster of leaves with Altenew Leaf Canopy Die, trimmed the panel down, adhered it to a 4.25 x 5.5-inch white cardstock. I inlaid the small center bits and stamped the image with the coordinating stamp.
Use Your Leftovers
For the second card, I debossed another 4.25 x 5.5-inch white panel with the same Altenew Die. Next, I aligned the color block leaf die-cut with the pattern on the white panel and popped it up with foam squares.
Lastly, I added sentiment strips and sequins to embellish the cards.
That’s all folks. Cardstock color blocking is an easy way to add quick color to your cards and I hope you give it a try. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you soon with more inspiration.

I like this idea. Mostly due to the two card makeup and no left over parts to wonder on later.
Thank you! I bet you have a lot of scraps like me! Drives me crazy.
I like that you were able to make 2 cards from the die cut. Also, the color blocking color are pretty.
