Easy Color Blocking | Color Connection
Hey guys! Welcome to another Color Connection episode where I share easy color blocking with the June 2020 Altenew Inspiration Challenge color palette.
Jaycee Gaspar, from the Altenew Video Inspiration Team, is hosting the Inspiration Challenge this month. I’m loving the Zen vibes of his photo below. Look how he expertly captured that wisp of smoke.
This color palette pushed me outside my comfort zone as I rarely use brown. How about you, what are your feelings on brown?
As a nod to Jaycee’s video series, Perfect Parings with Jaycee, I’ve paired golden oldie Altenew stamp sets with new release stamp sets for these projects.
Details to create these easy color blocking handmade cards are in this short card making video tutorial. Watch here or in HD on YouTube. While you’re there, I’d love it if you like, subscribe, and share it with friends!
Easy Color Blocking with Watercolor Frames
Initially my plan was to do simple color blocking down the center with Watercolor Frames Stamp Set. I thought I might stack several sentiment strips in the color blocks. But, as is typical in my craft room, plans changed!
As it turns out, the open area in the center of Whimsical Flowers & Quotes was perfect for my color blocks! So I stamped it with Obsidian Pigment Ink along with one of the fabulous quotes from the set.
This card was complete in a flash! If you don’t have Watercolor Frames Stamp Set you could also create watercolor stripes down the center.
Watercolor Color Blocks
LOL! I thought I’d do this for my next Color Connection episode until I realized, been there done that!
And in the same color palette too! Visit the post and video here.
Easy Color Blocking with Pattern Power
Fancy a masculine card? This one fits the bill with a neutral color palette, geometric Pattern Power Stamp Set, and small leaves.
Pattern Power Stamp Set is unique in that you use the same stamp and rotate it to create different colored layers. My favorite way to use it is by stamping twice and leaving the third layer white as you see here. Pattern Power is easy to line up and packs a punch!
Oh Apothecary Labels, how I love you! These labels are simple without flourishes making them ideal for masculine and everyday cards. Here, I stamped a label in Dew Drops Crisp Dye Ink to coordinate with the Teal Cave and Sand Dunes Pattern Power image.
The small leaves are from Wild Flora Stamp Set & Die Bundle. This set is a staple in my craft room and despite my alphabetical stamp organization, it sits front and center for quick accessibility.
Calming Aqua Nuvo Crystal Drops finished off this clean design.
More Pattern Power
Here I mixed Pattern Power Stamp Set with Sunflower Daisy Stamp Set. The high contrast of black, yellow, and all that white space speaks to me!
