Picture Book Impressions
Hello there, I’m back with a cute birthday card for Simon Says Stamp’s Friendly Frolic release. They’ve released new Picture Book dies – dinosaurs and sea creatures! Shop Simon’s Friendly Frolic release here!
This Picture Book Brontosaurus die inspired me to exit my comfort zone by leaving layered florals behind and entering the land of critters. So what to do with this little Jurassic cutie?
I decided I wanted mix things up and dry emboss vs. the standard die cutting. First, I dry embossed the little guy all over an A2 sized card panel. I cut a mask and then attempted to copic color 1 of the dinos.
People…this was a disaster!! Talk about bleeding through the masking paper and onto the card base. So I pumped the breaks and shifted gears. I dry embossed another panel and die cut 1 little brontosaurus out of Simon Says Stamp Green apple cardstock. I shaded with some color pencils and voila, now we’re talking.
I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die and adhered him to the panel adding white spots and toenails. I added a stacked sentiment with Altenew Label Love and embellished with Ebony Black Nuvo Crystal drops.
He was missing something, so I added a hand drawn balloon and “tied” it to his tail with black & white twine. I added a green matt with Simon Says Stamp Green Leaf cardstock and adhered to an A2 sized card base and called it done.
I hope you enjoyed this little lovely! As always, products & supplies are listed below. Thanks so much for stopping by. Breathe · Ink · Inspire
