Create a subtle effect on light cardstock and high-contrast look on dark cardstock.

The Zentangle style heart stamp from the December 2019 kit is a fabulous focal piece for your cards or scrapbook projects. Keep things simple and emboss it as I’ve done here, or stamp it and use your favorite coloring medium.

Recently, I’ve been on an embossing folder kick. In a recent video, I featured an ink to embossing folder technique. That technique presses the ink into the debossed crevices. This time around I wanted to play with the raised embossed areas.

First, I embossed a sentiment from the subscription box on the card front. Next, I embossed the panel with a chevron embossing folder.

Then, I ran the broad side of a General’s White Charcoal pencil over the raised embossed areas. Lastly, I buffed the finished panel with a microfiber cloth.

This technique also looks great on black cardstock to create a chalkboard effect. I recommend trying out other mediums with this technique as well. For instance, the side of a pastel or an ink pad. Ensure you use inks with a firm pad. A soft squishy pad, like pigment ink, is more likely to fall into the debossed areas.
