Heat Emboss Glitter Paper

Have you ever stamped and heat embossed your glitter paper? I’ve got two cards and a video featuring this technique. Come check it out!

I’ll be using MirriSparkle glitter paper today in Gold, Silver, and Evergreen. The glitter is so finely milled that the paper feels smoother than most glitter papers I’ve used. This is what prompted me to consider stamping and heat embossing it.

The video below shows the process of stamping and embossing so definitely check it out!

I started with a piece of MirriSparkle Silver Glitter cardstock from CutCardStock.com in my MISTI. I inked up 2 blooms from Altenew Wallpaper Art Stamp Set with clear embossing ink and stamped the glitter paper. I didn’t treat the paper with any antistatic powder, this wasn’t intentional, I usually forget.

I then heat embossed with Altenew Razzleberry Embossing Powder. This color contrasted well with the silver paper and melted beautifully. Preheat your heat tool and keep it moving. If you leave it in one place to long, the glitter paper will start to bubble.

Tip: Die cut your images prior to stamping. This eliminates them possibly shifting as tape doesn’t adhere as strongly to glitter paper.

Next, I stamped green MirriSparkle paper with black ink and clear heat embossed it. For the other leaves, I stamped in bright green and clear heat embossed. Even though the ink was bright and saturated, the finished result was a muted sage green.

Tip: Stamp in dark or rich colors as the finished result will be much lighter than ink color. Colored embossing powders will provide the most saturated color.

Next, I stamped a few elements with black ink on MirriSparkle Gold.

Card Assembly

I ran 2 pieces of A2 sized Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lb through embossing folders and cut strips of Basis Black cardstock and MirriSparkle Evergreen and Gold.

I heat embossed the sentiments, adhered the glitter strips to the bottom of the cardstock pieces, and popped up the strips on the card panels. I popped up the florals with dimensional foam to finish off the cards.

I hope you enjoyed these projects and feel inspired to give heat embossing on glitter cardstock a try! Thanks so much for stopping by! Be creative and Breathe · Ink · Inspire
