Modern Christmas Cards
In the ’80s, my mom’s Christmas tree strayed from tradition. She opted for a modern sugar plum fairy tree. There was no traditional red, green, or gold.
It was all pastels, bright pink, blue, and white, and was bedecked with glittery ice cream cones, snowflakes, silver beads, and other sugary concoctions. These cards are for you mom. Love you, mwah!
Let’s get started! These cards revolve around the Merry Christmas sentiment, from Simon Says Stamp Critter Sweaters stamp set, from their Fun & Festive release. I love the bouncy scripty font and size of this sentiment!
I started by aligning the triangle stamp from SSS Big Perfect Shapes stamp set with the Grid Transparency. I stamped the first triangle and then shifted the cardstock down 3/4 of an inch before stamping each successive triangle.
Green: Simon Says Stamp Hybrid Ink Cubes in Jellybean, Key Lime, & Lucky
Aqua: Simon Says Stamp Premium Dye Ink in Lake Shores, Audrey Blue, & High Dive
Once the ink was dry, I prepped the surface with an antistatic powder bag and stamped the sentiment with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and clear heat embossed it.
I then trimmed 1/8 inch off each side of the card front and attached small strips of the diagonal patter from Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Petite Patterns paper. I popped up the card front with sticky back fun foam and adhered it to an A2 sized card base.
As a final touch, I added Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Clear Droplets as ornaments. I hope you enjoyed this card today and feel inspired to create some modern holiday cards. In addition to the products below, be sure to check out Simon’s latest release.
