Background Pattern Play
I’m back with a bit of Background Magic as inspired by the Altenew Academy class taught by Laurel Beard. This class focuses on stretching your background stamps by using them in different ways.
I added a secondary pattern to the Altenew Pattern Play Diamond Stamp Set: a cluster of leaves and a berry with Nuvo Drop Crystal Drops Pearl Finish in Antique Rose. The background stamp reminded me of lattice so I thought it’d be great for trailing vines or greenery.
I cut the stamped panel and a piece of Neenah Solar White Cardstock to A2 size and die cut a circle out of the center of the center. A “berry” was added with Nuvo Crystal Drops, Pearl Finish in the color Antique Rose.
Sentiments were die cut from black 110lb cardstock using Altenew Signature Words Die set. I stacked 2 sentiments to add dimension and weight.
In order to allow the hello sentiment to standout I placed a vellum strip across the card and hid glue behind the leaf on the right and sentiment.
One flower arrangement was set on top of the panel while the other was glued directly to the circle and the flowers were trimmed around the edge. I popped up the panels up on foam tape and inlaid the circle die cuts.
I cut the leaves of the green panel card and curled them up to add further dimension.
Tip: add a drop of Ranger Glossy Accents under each leaf. Once the droplets dry it will keep the leaves lifted as the card goes through the mail.
I’m thrilled with how these 2 cards and my photos turned out! I love taking my photos in full sun as they’re bright, crisp, and no photo editing is needed!
Give it a whirl and try using your background stamps in different ways to get more use out of them. Thanks so much for stopping by. Breathe ·Ink · Inspire
